Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel, and jazz into his distinctive style. Her career path has taken her across Broadway to European festivals and clubs and even to her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine, whose given name was Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta, her roots are in Chester Pennsylvania. There she first began to develop an interest in music, singing and playing the piano at church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B culture. The voice of hers was featured in the music video for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005 she took on the role of the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her vocals and her music, invited Sunshine to sing in the Dreamgirls production at the Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition for her daily shows at the Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform at President Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration.
